Through the study of artistic transfers between Brazil and various European cultural centres, this thesis seeks to analyze in a Latin American context the main artistic transformations that have taken place in the history of art. from the colonial period to modernity. After a panorama of Brazilian visual arts between the 16th and early 20th centuries, research is developing taking into account the relationships of cultural domination and colonization established between European artistic metropolises and the Latin American artistic peripheries. By deepening the Latin American experience, Through the study of the mechanisms of diffusion and circulation of modernist ideas in Brazil, the research continues its analysis on the process of decentralization of modern Brazilian art, cultural relations between the cities of Recife and Paris. Based on the study of the work, career and actions of the artists of Recife, Fedora, Vicente and Joaquim do Rego Monteiro, during the first decades of the 20th century, important questions will be asked, aimed at understanding the role of Recife and The Rego Monteiro siblings in the development and decentralization of modern Brazilian artistic production. This analysis will be supplemented by a iconographic corpus of painters Rego Monteiro.

A travers l’étude des transferts artistiques réalisés entre le Brésil et différents centres culturels européens, cette thèse cherche à analyser dans un contexte latino-américain les principales transformations artistiques survenues dans l’histoire de l’art brésilien de la période coloniale jusqu’à la modernité. Après avoir dressé un panorama des arts plastiques brésiliens entre le XVIe et le début du XXe siècles, la recherche se développe en tenant compte des relations de domination et colonisation culturelles établies entre les métropoles artistiques européennes et les périphéries artistiques d’Amérique latine. En approfondissant l’expérience latino-américaine, à travers l’étude des mécanismes de diffusion et de circulation des idées modernistes au Brésil, le travail de recherche poursuit ses analyses sur le processus de décentralisation de l’art moderne brésilien, généré par les relations culturelles établies entre les villes de Recife et Paris. À partir de l’étude de l’œuvre, du parcours et des actions des artistes de Recife, Fedora, Vicente et Joaquim do Rego Monteiro, au cours des premières décennies du XXe siècle, des questions importantes seront posées, ayant pour but de comprendre le rôle de Recife et de la fratrie Rego Monteiro dans le développement et la décentralisation de la production artistique brésilienne moderne. Cette analyse sera complétée par un corpus iconographique des peintres Rego Monteiro.
