The taste for antiquity shown by the french from the beginning of the 18th century tothe 19th century has been explored thanks to the particular case of the trajan column. The trajan column was erected in the year 113 ad. D through its bas reliefs winding upwards to the top of the column and revealing 114 scenes which are the only testimonies of the dacic wars, the column is a celebration of the emperor trajan's victories over the daces. However, independently of these sculptures, the trajan column remains a center of great interest for historians as well as a model for architects. From the late 18th century to the 19th century, the trajan column appealed mainly to architects. We have thus examined both the influence of the trajan column over the architects ot the time and the image the architects had of it. Architects within the academie de france wrote numerous books on the trajan column. First and foremost, wehave tried to determine the differents factors which raised the trajan column to the rank of an architectural model and which led the academie de france to choose it as a subject for study. Next, we have presented and analysed the 2 types of work accomploshed by the student architects : restaurations and surveying.

Le gout pour l'antique manifeste en france de la fin du 18eme siecle a la fin du 19eme siecle a ete explore grace au cas particulier constitue par la colonne trajane. Celle-ci erigee en 113 apres j. C celebre les victoires de l'empereur trajan sur les daces grace a des bas-reliefs qui s'enroulent de bas en haut de la colonne et se deploient en 114 scenes et sont le seul temoignage de ces guerres daciques. Cependant meme privee de ses sculptures, la colonne garde tout interet pour l'historien et reste un modele pour l'architecture. En effet, de la fin du 18eme siecle a la fin du 19eme siecle ce sont surtout les architectes qui ont ete sollicite par la colonne. Nous avons examine quelle a ete l'influence de la colonne, quelle image s'en sont faite les architectes de cette periode. Au sein de l'academie de france, les architectes ont realise de multiples ouvrages sur la colonne trajane; nous avons tout d'abord determine les facteurs qui ont promu la colonne trajane au rand de modele architectural et qui ont incite l'academie de france a la choisir comme sujet d'etude. Puis, nous avons presente et analyse les 2 types de travaux realises par les architectes pensionnaires : les restaurations et les releves. Les projets d'architecture constituent la troisieme partie de notre travail.
