Abstract EN:

Abydos in egypt has been held since the middle kingdom as holy city of the god osiris. Between the new kingdom and the coptic period, the site has seen the building of royal foundations which contributed to modify the general configuration of the abydene circus. The royal inscriptions discovered on location show a remarkable use of the local myths aiming at the legitimation of the pharaon. On another hand, the spread of the worship of osiris and the veneration of the local relic have contributed to the elaboration of religious speculations which take place in the general evolution of religious beliefs of the late period.
