The study of the horse in the egyptian pharaonic period allows to tackle some themes which are useful for a larger understanding of the egyptian civilization which this animal is meanwhile restricted in to an elite. The food crops and the stock farming which supply the most part of the state's incomes allow to study the egyptian economy which the horse is not integrated in as a commercial value. The study of the equestrian titles and of the social statute of the people whom bear such titles allows to deepend our knowledge on the egyptian society and her social groups, the connectionwith the horse only interesting the middle and u@@er classes of the society.

L'etude du cheval dans l'egypte pharaonique permet d'aborder certains themes necessaires a une plus grande comprehension de la civilisation egyptienne ou cet animal est cependant reste reserve a une elite. L'agriculture vivriere et l'elevage qui fournissent la majeure partie des revenus de l'etat offrent l'occasion de se pencher sur l'economie de l'egypte, dans laquelle le cheval n'est pas integre comme valeur marchande. L'etude des titres equestres et du statut social des individus ayant porte de tels titres permettent d'approfondir nos connaissances sur la societe egyptienne et ses groupes sociaux, les rapports avec le cheval n'interessant que les classes moyennes et superieures de la societe.
