The way-back to a signifying tradition and its opening to new opportunities of creativity led to set-up a sort of explanatory "expose", the elements of which are very closely tied up. It is thus necessary to first mention the rules and to describe the circumstances which originated the k'o-sseu art work : its history, the factors of its evolution and later on, the factors which have contributed to its decline. The starting from a personal research, and in a synchronistic prospective, the question is raised of considering the chances of a new valorization of the ancient tapestry, as well as the possible ways of haning it down to our modern age. In view of the above, our research was successively oriented towards th two aspects of evolution with a resolutely modern outwork, within our contemporaneous frame. On a first step, we have tried to develop an in-depth study, on several writings dedicated to the k'o-sseu art which, in spite of being millenerry, has been until now, missing recognition. On a second step, the problem was raised of a possible assimilation of this traditional art into the field of the present technics applied in the modern textil artwork. As a conclusion and in order to reach the essential of such an attempt to rehabilitate the k'o-sseu tradition, we asked the questions: when the original handing-down is lost, can the secret of this knowhow be re-discovered, re-created ? and can this re-creation be creative gain ?

Le retour a une tradition signifiante, et l'ouverture de cette tradition a de nouvelles opportunites de creation, appellent a l'elaboration d'un expose dont les parties sont intimement liees. Il faut donc tout d'abord etablir les regles; les conditions qui ont preside a la naissance du k'o-sseu : ce qui a fait son histoire, et ce qui a contribue a son evolution, puis a sa decadence. Ensuite, a partir d'une recherche personnelle, il convient, dans une perspective synchronique, de montrer comment se posent la question et l'approche de la revalorisation de la tapisserie ancienne ainsi que les voies par lesquelles, aujourd'hui, elle peut se transmettre. Aussi nos investigations ont-elles ete orientees successivement vers ces deux aspects d'evolution dans une optique et a l'interieur d'un cadre resolument modernes. Dans un premier temps nous avons cherche a developper et a approfondir l'etude des divers textes consacres a l'art du k'o-sseu, qui, pour etre millenaire, n'en est pas moins reste tres meconnu jusqu'a nos jours. Dans une deuxieme etape, nous avons souleve le probleme d'une possible assimilation de cette tradition dans le champ d'application des techniques actuelles de l'art textile contemporain. Enfin pour toucher a l'essentiel de cette tentative de revalorisation, nous avons ete conduits a nous poser les questions suivantes : le secret du savoir-faire, lorsqu'il n'est plus transmis, comment le re-inventer, le re-creer ? une telle recreation peut-elle porter des fruits ?
