L'illustration de décrets de Gratien dans l'enluminure toulousaine au XIVe siècle

By studying the material, iconographical and stylistical particularities of a group of décrets by Gratian, of which the origin was uncertain, it has been possible to determine the characteristics of the group, allowing to localize the manuscripts in Toulouse. The functioning of the image and its relation with the text are compared to the same items in parisian and bolonees décrets to underlining the originality of the group. In the stylistic field, the group has been linked up with manuscripts belonging to the toulousan book illumination of the second half of the XIVth century and in that way a general view has been created of the development throughout the whole of XIVth century toulousan book illumination.

A travers l'étude des particularités matérielles, iconographiques et stylistiques d'un groupe de décrets de Gratien, dont la provenance étant incertaine jusque maintenant, sont dégagées dans un premier temps ses caractéristiques, permettant d'attribuer aux manuscrits une localisation toulousaine. L'étude du fonctionnement de l'image et sa relation avec le texte sont ensuite comparés à ceux des décrets parisiens et bolonais, ce qui met à jour l'originalité du groupe en question. La comparaison stylistique insère ce groupe dans l'enluminure toulousaine, peu connue jusqu'alors, démontrant ainsi l'existence d'un lien entre les décrets datés de la première moitié du XIVe siècle et des manuscrits divers de la seconde moitié du siècle.
