This is a study of the eastern part of the cathedral, from apse to the eastern bays of the nave (about 1170 - about 1245 ): romanesque an gothic, this part lets see a realy original aesthetics and a wonderful regional adaptation of the gothic style. Three directions of search. First, the situation of the cathedral in the town and the organisation of the building-yard. Second, study of plan and elevations. Third, the so called "architectonic decoration". Colossal and evolutiv models; orthostats; facing of a wall (boss and polish facing); no-extradossed arches.

Cette etude concerne l'ensemble bati depuis l'abside jusqu'aux travees orientales de la nef (environ 1170-environ 1245) : partie la moins etudiee, romane, puis gothique, elle temoigne de recherches originales et d'une forme etonnante de l'adaptation regionale au nouveau style. Trois directions de recherche se sont imposees. D'abord, l'implantation de l'edifice dans la ville : situation dans le tissu urbain et le grand cloitre, et organisation materielle du chantier de construction. Ensuite, etude du plan et des elevations. Enfin, l'analyse de ce qu'on peut appeler "le decor architectonique" : gabarits colossaux et evolutifs; orthostates; parements (bossage et polissage; gradation relative des parements); arcs non extradosses.
