The introduction of this thesis is dedicated to its aims and limits, and the first chapter to the general concept of limited war. Chapter two centres on the analysis of the limits imposed by limited war, whilst the third chapter concentrates on the main proposals made on both political and military levels by the united states of america regarding the Korean war, analyses made on the intervention procedures emploued in the war, the way in which military operations and armistice negotiations were handled and, finally, an understanding of the military characteristics which led to limitations. The fourth chapter deals with the possibility of using nuclear arms during the Korean war and in other limited wars, and with the analyses of the steps leading to a decision to adopt a policy against the use of this type of arm. The last chapter, chapter five, is devoted to the concept of nuclear and nuclear limited war and to nuclear operations within limited war. The conclusion provides a resume concerning the subject of limited war and examines the future prospect of limited war in Korea.

Dans cette thèse, nous consacrerons l'introduction à l'objectif et aux limites de la thèse ; le premier chapitre à la conception générale sur la guerre limitée. Le second chapitre abordera l'analyse des limites de la guerre limitée ; le troisième, les principales propositions des États-Unis sur les plans politique et militaire à propos de la guerre de Corée, les analyses sur les processus d'intervention dans le conflit, la direction des opérations militaires et des négociations d'armistice, et la compréhension des caractéristiques militaires qui ont entrainé des limites. Le quatrième chapitre sera consacré à l'éventualité de l'emploi d'armes nucléaires au cours de la guerre de Corée, ainsi que dans d'autres guerres limitées et aux analyses sur les processus de décision d'une politique de non-emploi de ces armes. Le cinquième chapitre; la conception de guerre nucléaire et celle de guerre nucléaire limitée, et l'opération nucléaire dans la guerre limitée. Enfin la conclusion sera un résumé de tout ce qui concerne la guerre limitée, et la perspective de guerre nucléaire limitée en Corée.
