Study of the nestorian crisis, essentially from the acta conciliorum oecumenicorum i of e. Schwartz, beginning with a study of the sources in the different counciliary collections; analysis of the development of the christologic controversy between nestorius and cyril of alexandria in 429-430; then, of the way the council took place, in june 431, insisting on the chronological problems and the facing forces (analysis of the different episcopal lists) allowing to stress the complexity of the situation created in the city of ephesus by the break of the council in two rivals assemblies, the struggle for the control of the situation at the imperial court, the lack of rom in the controversy and the total lack of solution to the christologic problem.

Etude de la crise nestorienne, essentiellement a partir des acta conciliorum oecumenicorum i de e. Schwartz, en commencant par une approche critique des sources dans les differentes collections conciliaires; ensuite, analyse du developpement de la controverse christologique entre nestorius et cyrille d'alexandrie en 429-430, puis etude du concile en juin 431, en insistant sur les problemes chronologiques et les forces en presence (analyse fondee sur l'etude des listes episcopales); ce qui permet de mettre en relief la complexite de la situation creee a ephese par l'eclatement du concile en deux assemblees rivales, les luttes d'influence pour controler la situation a constantinople, l'absence de l'occident dans la controverse, ainsi que l'absence de solution apportee au probleme christologique qui a provoque la crise.
