This doctoral dissertation tries to examine, through a periodization dictated by the most important turning points of the political life in brazil since the sixties, the origins and the evolution of the feminist project engendered in a particular context characterized by the articulation of a society in modernization and an authoritarian regime. In a second time this work deals with the institutionlization of the feminist movement whichn in the process of the political redemocratization of the country, became a "state feminism". Pioneer in its field, the study tries to seize all the meanings brazilian women used to associate to the word "feminism" during the seventies, in the light of a distinction between "women", "feminist" and "women liberation" movement. The trajectory of the feminist movement of rio and sao paulo is recovered and their ideological positions analysed regarding those of the exiled brazilian feminists. Besides, the national expansion of feminism in the eighties is examined and the new feminist discourses and practices considered in relation to those of the politiciens. Taking into account a distinction between studies "on women" and "feminist studies", the dissertation also retraces, through the same periodization, the course of the investigation field "on woman" in brazil, on order to understand the singularity of its articulation with the local feminist movement.

Cette these cherche a reconstituer, a travers une periodisation dictee par les grands tournants de la vie politique bresilienne depuis les annees 60, la genese et l'evolution du projet feministe engendre un contexte particulier, caracterise par l'articultion d'une societe en voie de modernisation et d'un regime autoritaire. Dans un deuxieme temps elle traite l'institutionnalisation du mouvement feministe qui, cotoyant le processus de redemocratisation du pays, est devenu un feminisme pionniere dans son genre, l'etude tache d'aprehender toutes les significations associes au mot "feminisme" par les bresiliennes pendant les annees 1970, a la lumiere d'une distinction entre mouvement "de(s) femmes", "feministe" et "de liberation des femmes". On y analyse notamment la trajectoire du feminisme a rio de janeiro et a sao paulo et on discrimine ses orientations ideologiques, en les confrontant a celles d'un feminisme de l'exil. Par la suite, on examine l'expansion nationale du feminisme et la relation entre les discours et les pratiques des feministes et des groupements politiques bresiliens dans les annees 80. Suggerant la distinction entre etudes "sur les femmes" et "feministes" le travail retrace egalement, a l'aide de la meme periodisation, le chemin parcouru par le champ de recherche "sur la femme" au bresil, en essayant de comprendre la singularite de ses rapports avec le mouvement feministe.
