Based on kandinsky's, klee's, macke's and marc's attemps at "total arts", and on the features of some works of art (by th. Gautier, musset, moussorgsky, n. Y. Graphitists, ben, cruz-diez, and so on. . . ) this thesis consists of the presentation of the synesthesic fields, their definition and applications, so much on the strictly psychological level as on the physiological one. So, it is firstly a phenomenological survey of sensorial transferences. Then, these is an analysis of contemporary art in two parts: one is structural and deals with intentional, mediation and various effects of art, the other is correlative and demonstrateshow each sight corresponds to the others. A third part inclued the synesthesic concept into its previous analysis of art especially in the initial factor already mentionned and in their connections. The answer to the assemptions set up in the fourth chapter sums up the work achieved from the beginning of this thesis, by solving stage the problems arousing from the coalescing of both concepts: perception and polysensitivity. A firm believ puts and end to the last paragraph, the hypothesis being confirmed: the synesthesic field leads to contemporary art as contemporary art leads to the "synesthetic" field. This neologism, used by the author from the first lines of this work allthrough the survey uncommonly enlightens the darkness of the aesthetic analysis. As a matter of fact, the aesthetic language reveals to be multiple as the barely perceptive aspects tend to become multisensorial. It can be inferred that, from the author's point of view, it is a polyaesthetics based upon a multiperception on the rim of the e. S. P. "extrasensorial perception" witch contemporary art as a whole is bearing. A large corpus gather over sixty bibliographical sources and the demonstration is illustred of some forty diagrams, drawings, photographs and sketches, together with many refferings to more than one hundred and forty authors, in order to make its reading easier and its meanig clearer.

Prenant appui sur des tentatives d'art total (kandinsky, klee, macke, marc) ainsi que sur les caracteristiques de certaines productions artistiques (th. Gautier, a. De musset, moussorgsky, ben, c. Cruz-diez, graphitistes new-yorkais, etc. . . ), cette these comprend la presentation des champs synesthesiques, leur definition et celles de leurs applications, tant sur le plan rigoureusement psychologique que physiologique. C'est donc d'abord une etude phenomenologique des transferts sensoriels. Suit une analyse de l'art contemporain developpant deux volets l'un, struturel, ou se decouvrent l'intentionnel, la mediation, et de multiples effets, l'autre, transactionnel, ou chacun de ces aspects repond aux autres. Une troisieme partie introduit le concept synesthesique dans l'analyse de l'art qui la precede. Dans les facteurs initiaux deja cites comme dans leurs relations. La reponse aux hypotheses constituant le quatrieme chapitre resume le chemin parcouru en resolvant point par point les problemes suscites par la fusion des deux concepts: perception et sensorialite. Notre ultime conclusion conclue avec vigueur le dernier paragraphe, l'hypothese est confirmee: le champ synesthesique debouche sur l'art contemporain comme l'art contemporain ouvre le champ "synesthetique". Ce neologisme, introduit par l'auteur des les premieres lignes du developpement, eclaire les penombres de l'analyse esthetique d'une lumiere toute particuliere. En effet, le discours esthetique se decouvre multiplie a mesure que celui de la perception evolue vers le multisensoriel. On comprendra qu'il s'agit d'une "polyesthetique" fondee sur une multiperception, a la frange de la perception "extra sensorielle", que contient pour l'auteur, l'art contemporain dans son entier. La collecte de plus de soixante sources ou references bibliographiques et la demonstration comportent plus de quarante diagrammes, croquis, photographies et schemas ainsi que de nombreuses references a plus de cent quarante auteurs en facilitent la lecture.
