The archeodata system develops a series of methodological elements for the organization of the archaeological document in its entirety, just as well on the national as on the international level, with the aim to ensure a better opening to research and the conservation of the document as a collective historical heritage. The system uses computer data management logic to structure and integrate globaly all phases of surveying, excavation, publication and archival deposit. It is articulated around common element to which all information is attached, permitting the easy identification of data. The primary subjects covered are the localization of the archaeological site, excavation recording, inventory and all the recording sheets necessary for the archaeologist. Conservation of the archaeological archive is also discussed.

Le système archéodata développe une série d'éléments méthodologiques pour l'organisation du document archéologique dans son ensemble, aussi bien au niveau national qu'international, et ceci dans le but d'assurer une meilleure ouverture vers la recherche et de garantir la pérennité du document en tant que patrimoine historique collectif. Le système s'articule autour d'un élément commun qui permet à toute information de s'y rattacher, et ainsi d'être clairement et efficacement identifiée quand elle est requise. Le système, hautement structure par la logique de l'informatique, prend en compte les phases de prospection, de fouille, de publication et de dépôt de l'archive archéologique et sont intégrés de façon globale.
