Within the African provinces the spread of cities on the roman model becomes really significant during the Flavian and the Antonian period. More than compulsion imposed by Rome, this movement arises from a real eagerness of local elite to show their attachment to the Roman Empire. This Romanization has been supplemented by financial gifts to the city. Several types of alms such as summa honoria during magistracies and priesthoods, ob honorem promises and benefactions either when still living or by legacies, increase largely in numbers. Knowing precisely how many and how much is not easy to determine when studying antiquity because of a lack of documents. Nevertheless a re-reading of African epigraphic references allows a better understanding of the costs incurred by these evergetic practices. Explanation and comments on the above mentioned texts' corpus is part of the work involved in this thesis. Then after comparing and examining the repetition of some contributions we went into a more detailed study of some specific items such as foundations, buildings and various other services.

Dans les provinces africaines, l'urbanisation selon le modèle romain prend de l'ampleur sous les Flaviens et les Antonins. Plus qu'à une volonté délibérée de Rome, ce phénomène tient tout d'abord à un réel désir des élites locales de prouver leur attachement à l'empire. Cette romanisation se traduit matériellement par des largesses à la cité. Se multiplient alors les donations sous plusieurs formes, sommes honoraires lors de l'exercice de sacerdoces ou de magistratures, promesses pour ces honneurs, donations du vivant de leur auteur ou par testament. Aborder les questions quantitatives pour l'antiquité est malaisé faute de documents. Néanmoins, une relecture des textes épigraphiques permet une meilleure compréhension du cout de ces pratiques évergétiques. C'est ce à quoi nous nous sommes attaches en exposant et commentant l'ensemble des textes. Puis, la comparaison et la répétition de certaines formes de donations nous ont conduits à envisager trois points précis, les fondations, les donateurs d'origine sénatoriale et diverses prestations.
