Sertäo, de la surface à l'espace : une expérience plastique

The aim of this thesis is to study the theorical possibilites contained in a practice of arts based on an effort to create a visual poetics of sertao (brazilian hinterland). It includes an introduction to the theorical context of contemporary art in brazil. Then comes an intent to establish marks in 9order to create an understanding of sertao, which terms are defined according to the slopes of some parts of the countryside, habits and customs. At last, the third chapter is a presentation of my artistic pratice viewed through the lights of the artistic theories studied in chapter one and regarded according to the point of view of the visual poetics of sertao sketched out in chapter two. As a conclusion, this study of creative imagination that looks for itself as a conscience, comes though to establish better conditions for a more critical and deepe elaboration of a plastic work.

Le but de cette these est d'etudier des possibilites theoriques recelees par une pratique artistique des arts plastiques basee dans un effort de creation d'une poetique visuelle du sertao (arriere pays bresilien). Elle comprend une introduction au c9ontexte theorique des arts contemporains au bresil. Puis une tentative d'etablir des reperes pour la constitution d'un regard sur le sertao, definissant ce terme selon le versant du paysage, des us et coutumes. Enfin le troisieme et dernier chapitre presente ma pratique artistique examinee a la lumiere des theories artistiques abordes dans le premier chapitre et observes selon le point de vue des rudiments de la poetique visuelle du sertao examines dans le deuxieme chapitre. En conclusion cette imagination creatrice qui se cherche comme conscience, peut etablir des meilleurs conditions pour une elaboration plus critique et approfondie d'une oeuvre plastique.
