Contrary to general idea the tradition is a modern meaning because it renews every time with all the significations of the criterion regarding temporary distinctions. In the modern time when a new practice appears the old one becomes old or traditional and technology has mainly accelerated this procedure. Hence, the meaning of newness plastically, digitally and technicaly could be old every second. The symbols concerning the technology are therefore temporary because they do not last long either. The foretold situation is an important gap between present and past artistic forms of art. Nonetheless, the traditional categories exist and they have to be served in order to get access to every kind of art works. The difference is to be found in the traditional and new meaning of art work as well as the places and the ways of diffusion all under the influence of technology. From the other side, the machine is known to be a common form between all different types of art. It is true any way that the technology rejects the tradition but they are closely related too. Our historie range has been bounded to modern and contemporary art in the west but visual arts of Iran have been viewed quickly as a case study of traditional modernism as well.

La tradition, malgré l'opinion générale, est une notion moderne car elle se renouvelle à chaque instant avec toute la signification d'un critère général de la distinction temporelle. A partir du moment où une nouvelle pratique s'installe avec l'avancée technique, la pratique précédente devient ancienne et par la suite elle est traditionnelle. A la vitesse actuelle de la techno-science cette transformation de nouvel en ancien est incroyable. Pourtant, l'œuvre d'art n'est jamais nouvelle car elle pourrait se modifier par les moyens techniques interactifs. La nouveauté en matière plastique, numérique et en tout cas technique, pourrait devenir à chaque instant ancienne. De même, les symboles véhiculés par les technologies ne durent que peu de temps. Cette situation témoigne en tous cas, d'une rupture importante avec les pratiques antérieures. Pourtant, les catégories traditionnelles existent même pour avoir accès aux œuvres et d'un autre point de vue l'intervention technologique pour enregistrer des œuvres se fait de la même manière. Sans doute, le changement réside-t-il dans la notion traditionnelle de l'œuvre d'art et les lieux de diffusion de l'œuvre, liée à des réussites techno-scientifiques. Ainsi, on peut imaginer la machine comme une forme commune parmi tous les moyens à la portée de l'artiste. Cependant, s'il est vrai que la technologie brise la tradition, elle s'y rattache par ailleurs. L'art de l'Iran est brièvement abordé dans cette thèse comme un cas du traditionalisme moderne.
