Nationalisme révolutionnaire et socialisation politique : le cas du PPA-MTLD dans l'ancien département d'Alger, 1943-1954

Our research studies the history of the Algerian People's Party-Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberty which was the main and most "radical" nationalistic party between 1943 and 1954 in the former « Departement d'Alger ». Chronologically speaking,1943 is the year in which the political activity restarted after the Allies' landing in North Africa and 1954 the year in which the Algerian Revolution started with the November the 1st uprising. Our research is divided into two main parts aiming at understanding a political party which developed a style of functioning and different means of action according to particular moments or according to the field where it spread its activity. Firstly, we performed a historical analysis in which we tried to reconstruct the historical facts in their chronological linking in order to understand the way the party evolved. Secondly,we tried to produce a socio-historical analysis aimed at studying the nationalistic « counter society » that the APP MTDL strived to build with its specific structures. This analysis has led to point out certain caracteristic features that are specific to the algerian revolutionnary nationalism.

Notre thèse étudie l'histoire du Parti du Peuple Algérien - Mouvement pour le Triomphe des Libertés Démocratiques qui était le principal et le plus « radical » parti nationaliste algérien, entre 1943 et 1954 dans l'ancien département d'Alger. Au niveau chronologique, 1943 marque la reprise de l'activité politique en Algérie après le débarquement des Alliés en Afrique du Nord en novembre 1942, et 1954 marque le déclanchement de la Révolution algérienne à partir de l'insurrection du lier novembre. Notre travail se structure en deux parties principales ayant pour but de comprendre un parti politique qui développa des modes de fonctionnement, des moyens d'action différents en fonction des moments particuliers ou en fonction du champ où il déployait son activité. Dans un premier temps, nous avons effectué une analyse historique cherchant à restituer les faits historiques dans leur enchaînement chronologique afin de comprendre l'évolution du parti. Dans un second temps, nous nous sommes attachés à produire une analyse socio-historique s'attachant à étudier la « contre société » nationaliste que le PPA-MTLD s'est efforcé de construire avec ses structures spécifiques. Cette analyse nous a permis de dégager certains traits caractéristiques marquant le nationalisme révolutionnaire algérien.
