Eustache d’Arras ( ? – avant 1276) est un maître franciscain en théologie de l’Université de Paris durant les années 1268-1269 : cette période est très intéressante en raison des débats universitaires qui opposent les théologiens et les philosophes, l’Orient et l’Occident, et même les franciscains aux dominicains (surtout Thomas d’Aquin). Eustache d’Arras a laissé un œuvre abondante et variée : le commentaire du début du livre I des Sentences de Pierre Lombard, une centaine de questions disputées et quodlibétiques, une trentaine de sermons : les sermons et les trois quodlibets sont édités dans la thèse. Pour comprendre quelle a été la participation d’Eustache aux débats universitaires, une méthode a été mise au point : elle permet de classer en quatre catégories les solutions données aux questions disputées et quodlibétiques et de retenir les plus importantes. Elle pourrait aussi être utilisée pour étudier d’autres auteurs. En ce qui concerne Eustache, cette méthode montre les échanges d’arguments, d’images entre les théologiens (Nicolas de Biard, Thomas Brito, Bonaventure, Thomas d’Aquin…). Le second élément qui ressort de cette enquête est la négation de l’existence d’une « école franciscaine », organisée autour de la figure de Bonaventure. Enfin et surtout, Eustache d’Arras occupe dans certains débats de la seconde moitié du XIIIe siècle un rôle de pionnier dans les débats sur la distinction des personnes de la Trinité ou dans les attaques contre Thomas d’Aquin. Eustace of Arras ( ? – before 1276) is a Franciscan master of theology at the University of Paris during the years 1268-1268 : this period is very interesting because of the university debates which set the theologians against the philosophers, the East against the West, and even the Franciscans against the Dominicans (especially Thomas d' Aquin). Eustache d' Arras left an imposing body of work: the commentary of 9 distinctions of the book I Pierre Lombard's Sentences, hundred disputed questions and quodlibets, around thirty sermons: the sermons and three quodlibets are edited here. To understand Eustache's participation in the university debates, a method was finalized : she allows to classify in four categories the solutions given to the disputed questions and quodlibets and to retain the most important. This method could be also used to study the other authors. As regards Eustache, this method shows the exchanges of arguments, images between the theologians (Nicolas de Biard, Thomas Brito, Bonaventure, Thomas d' Aquin). The second element which stands out(goes out again) from this inquiry is the negation of the existence of a " Franciscan school ", organized around the figure of Bonaventure. Finally, Eustace of Arras occupies in certain debates of the second half of the XIIIth century pioneer's role in the debates on the distinction of the persons of the Trinity or in the attacks against Thomas d' Aquin.
