Dijon in the late eighteenth century was hoisted to the rank of real artistic provincial capital through an embellishment of its space, accompanied by new connoisseurs. This world revolves around two main figures: the customer and the artists and craftsmen gathered in corporations. This study examines the functioning of corporation’s arts and crafts reserving a large spot in the trail of individuals within the traditional framework. This world is evoked in turn by its regulatory, educational, economic, commercial and social aspects, evoking a provincial city that shines in the heart of the "Age of Enlightenment. "

Dijon à la fin du XVIIIe siècle se hisse au rang de véritable capitale artistique provinciale grâce à un embellissement de son espace et à un accroissement du goût pour les arts, accompagné par l’apparition de nouveaux connaisseurs. Ce monde s’articule autour de deux grandes figures : le client et les exécutants, artistes et artisans réunis en corporations. Cette étude aborde le fonctionnement des corporations d’artistes et d’artisanat d’art en réservant une large place au parcours des individus au sein de ce cadre traditionnel. Cet univers est évoqué tour à tour par ses aspects réglementaires, éducatifs, économiques, commerciaux et sociaux, dressant le portrait d’une ville de province qui brille au cœur du « siècle des Lumières ».
