Simplification d'ontologies par caractérisation des instances de classe : application à la conception d'un EIAH pour l'appropriation des comportements militaires

The SABRE project aims at the realization of an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) facilitating the appropriation of military behaviours. Using ontologies in tutoring environments allows both to get a formal description of declarative knowledge and an inference mechanism which a computer can use. This report describes a methodology to design an ontology-based application. This methodology ensures the adequacy of the ontology to the requirements of the application by reducing interpretative ambiguities. It is based on an iterative simplification of the ontology so as to produce a minimal representation which entails an easier development of the knowledge base of the ITS. This simplification procedure is made of a systematic analysis of the instances of a class through specific values of the arguments of that class. Eliminating ambiguities between concepts, this simplification method eventually facilitates the task of conceptualization of the ontology.

Le projet SABRE a pour objet la réalisation d’un système informatisé (EIAH) visant à faciliter l’appropriation des comportements militaires. L’utilisation d’ontologies dans les environnements d’apprentissage permet à la fois d’obtenir une représentation formelle de connaissances déclaratives et un mécanisme d’inférence exploitable par ordinateur. Dans ce mémoire, nous présentons une méthode qui permet le développement d’une ontologie dans le cadre de la conception d’une application. Cette méthode garantit l’adéquation de l’ontologie aux besoins du système en évitant les ambiguïtés interprétatives. Elle se caractérise par une simplification itérative de l’ontologie jusqu’à en obtenir une représentation minimale sur laquelle pourra être construite la base de connaissances. Cette simplification s’appuie sur la recherche systématique d’une caractérisation des instances de classe par des valeurs particulières d’un argument. Ce travail fournit une différentiation des concepts entre eux et facilite la tâche de conceptualisation de l’ontologie.
